Is it possible to carry out a DIY HIP?
I have read about this and it seems to be a possible option - any comments would be appreciated. Thanks

DIY HIP packs are a possibility for home owners. I am apprehensive to say the least about peole compiling their own HIP packs.

One of my main reasons behind this apprehension is legal liabilities if the home owner was to incorrectly compile the HIP.I must state that i do own a independent HIP provider business so there is a level of bias based on this post.

However, we carry a very high level of insurance up to £2 million for some aspects and high levels in others. As a home seller you probably would be able to get insurance for your DIY HIP, where from i do not know. If you were to get insurance for your DIY HIP i would suggest it would be a cheaper option commisioning it from an independent supplier.

In todays 'claim society' it is something to consider.

From what i can see HIPs are now alot cheaper than when it was introduced, the financial benefit of doing it yourself has almost gone. My time is worth more to me than i would have to pay.

Thanks for that Tony, i bought one of those packs which are derfinitely comprehensive.

However, after reading through it i woke up to how much was involved. Must admit didnt think it was so complex and when i added cost differences up i would of saved about £40 if DIY. I just wasn't prepared to take the risk and spend the time am affraid.

Though to others the packs supplied are great just bit too much like hard work for me!!!
