HIPS through Estate Agents 3 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0  
I took out a free HIP offer if I took the Agents Conveyancy. I have been really unhappy with the service offered by the Agent. I want to change Agents and considering how little work the Agents have done, can I avoid paying the HIP?

It really depends what it says in the contract that you signed. Do you have a copy?

As Tony states it will depend on your precise contract terms. However, it may well be you are tied in with your contract as many agents do.

They in effect to my understanding own your HIP. It maybe if you choose to move agents you would have to pay for the HIP to be transfered to your new agent or you would have to have a new one commisioned.

This is yet another positive in using and instructing an independent provider. You will often save money and actually own the HIP.
