The housing market is certainly not what could be described as buoyant at present.

This is affecting all manners of businesses at present. I am no economist though do feel the media have a large part to play in current conditions. They seem to be really playing on the doom and gloom, sending the market into further turmoil.

The truth in my eyes is for most your house is your home, not an investment. However, if you are treating it as an investment the long term trend continues to be upwards. Yes it is down short term though over reasonable lengths of time which investments should be looked at, it is substantially up. The media does not want to report this at the moment.

You are right your house is your home and the value doesn't really matter that much until you come to move and you can't sell it!!!
