1st day marketing extended 6 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 6  
As anticipated the 1st day of marketing exception has been extended for HIP provision.

Read the Home Information Pack news release which details this amongst other proposed measures.

I would have welcomed the exception being removed as we are able to produce HIP packs efficiently as alot of independents are, and felt we may have won additional business without this exception. Organisations and individuals would have valued the service and quick turnaround to higher degree if the exception had been removed as planned.

However, it has been almost common knowledge it was to be extended so comes as no suprise.

I recently was told by a HIP provider i did some work for that they needed me to complete the EPC within 48hrs as the owner was being held up marketing the property without the EPC. I only undertake the EPC and do not provide the HIP packs but thought it was possible to market the property before the HIP pack was complete. I didn't say that though will mention it next time i speak with them.

When has the exception being extended until?

Please see the news release in the link above - it does state that the first day marketing is to be extended to the end of this year. This is the plan at present!!!

Often HIP providers ask for the EPC to be completed ASAP by the DEA as we do, however there is no legal requirement for the HIP to be completed prior to marketing, only that it is ordered and this can be proved. This is what this exception is about!!

As part of our HIP pack services, we supply a confirmation of order to our clients and/or estate agents.

I do not understand what your objection is to the 1st day marketing being extended.

It gives us the opportunity to compile the pack with less time constraints and the pressure that would invariably come if the pack was needed before clients could market the property.
