New-style Home Information Packs will be piloted in six locations later this year, it has been announced.
The packs are set to become a part of the home-buying process, with people selling homes needing to have surveys done before putting properties on sale. |

Rightmove has pulled out of the HIPs market following the Government's decision to change the rules on the packs.
The Rightmove board initiated a review in response to the announcement from the minister for housing and planning, Yvette Cooper, who said that the home condition report within a home information pack (HIP) would be voluntary. |

Sir, I have been a conveyancing solicitor for 42 years. I can safely say that home information packs were never going to have more than the most marginal effect on the speed of transactions; that is governed almost entirely by that most intractable of factors, human nature.

THE Scottish Executive has wasted no time in announcing that the government's U-turn on Home Information Packs (Hips) south of the Border will in no way affect plans to introduce compulsory sellers' packs, including single surveys, to Scotland in 2008.
